The competition included 320 participants, from 27 countries around the world. From 73 international projects divided into six categories, namely Plasterboard, Plaster, Residential, Non-Residential, Innovation and Ceilings, a winner and runner-up were chosen in each category. The contractors combined their creativity and craftsmanship to produce remarkable projects using Saint-Gobain plaster and drywall systems.
SRBA Construction Belgium was the winner of first prize in the Non-Residential category, beating out 21 other international projects for their extensive renovation of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. This project is a perfect combination of technical know-how and creativity with Gyproc® products and systems. The renovation transformed KMSKA, with four historic patios converted and added to the existing museum as new museum spaces. As a result, the exhibition space has been increased by 40% and the museum is now ready for the future.

"This challenging renovation was expertly executed using innovative solutions and respecting the limitations of the existing historic building. The jury was particularly impressed by the unique ceiling structures and the complex finishing of the very high walls."
SRBA Construction Belgium expertly executed the challenging renovation with innovative solutions and respect for the limitations of the existing historic building. The jury was particularly impressed by the unique ceiling structures and the complex finishing of the very high walls. The renovation presented several technical challenges, including high load-bearing capacity, fire resistance and a high level of finishing. However, SRBA Construction Belgium was able to overcome these challenges through close collaboration with Gyproc®, the general contractor Artes Group and the architect. The new museum features bright white exhibition spaces, hidden rooms, long staircases, far-reaching fields of vision and different degrees of daylight, all made possible by the solutions offered by Gyproc®.
The Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp underwent a drastic and extensive renovation and expansion, converting four historic patios into new museum spaces and increasing exhibition space by 40 percent.
